Yesterday Bruce was telling me that Finn has developed this habit of coming to get his Dad for a confidential conversation, whispering, "Dad, I need you to come here".. the time Bruce was telling me about Finn broke the leg off one of his action figures and was worried he would be in trouble.. probably alluding to the time he broke the leg off Zoe's new Equestria Girl doll.
I had fed the kids early, since our stuffed zucchinis were taking so long to cook, and Bruce and I were eating, the kids were playing in the backyard.. Finn came in and said "Dad, I need you to come with me". They go off, I start clearing the table.. and I hear calm.. "Mom" "Amy".. and then I see Finn and he said calmly, "Dad needs you to get the ladder".. well in the very back of our yard I see Bruce with Zoe's feet in his hands above his head... and Zoe dangling from the lowest branch of a pine tree.. 12 feet in the air.. I started to marvel, how in the world did she get up there, and then you can see that the tree is kind of windswept.. the branch curves sort of horizontal and then up...
Finn saved her from many a broken bone.. I told her that I understood her need to climb trees, but that she should never do it alone. She was lucky Finn was able to get us.
and for Finn, I told him that perhaps he could have stressed the urgency of the situation.. I don't think he understood the time constraint of it all.
phew.. a lesson learned (both of them mentioned it after)
