Chocolate

I was eating chocolate, left a square on the counter and helped Finn in the other room.. I came back to this note..

12 feet!

Yesterday Bruce was telling me that Finn has developed this habit of coming to get his Dad for a confidential conversation, whispering, "Dad, I need you to come here".. the time Bruce was telling me about Finn broke the leg off one of his action figures and was worried he would be in trouble.. probably alluding to the time he broke the leg off Zoe's new Equestria Girl doll.

I had fed the kids early, since our stuffed zucchinis were taking so long to cook, and Bruce and I were eating, the kids were playing in the backyard.. Finn came in and said "Dad, I need you to come with me".  They go off, I start clearing the table.. and I hear calm.. "Mom"  "Amy".. and then I see Finn and he said calmly, "Dad needs you to get the ladder".. well in the very back of our yard I see Bruce with Zoe's feet in his hands above his head... and Zoe dangling from the lowest branch of a pine tree.. 12 feet in the air..  I started to marvel, how in the world did she get up there, and then you can see that the tree is kind of windswept.. the branch curves sort of horizontal and then up...

Finn saved her from many a broken bone.. I told her that I understood her need to climb trees, but that she should never do it alone.  She was lucky Finn was able to get us.

and for Finn, I told him that perhaps he could have stressed the urgency of the situation.. I don't think he understood the time constraint of it all.

phew.. a lesson learned (both of them mentioned it after)

Mother's Day gift

At some point last week Zoe told me they were not doing anything at school for Mother's Day... But when she handed this to me I asked her about it and she said she was throwing me off so that I would be surprised!

Zoe and Matti

This is Zoe's picture if Matti tied up,.. She asked me to note the zipper in his mouth

boy trouble

A couple of weeks ago, on a Friday afternoon, I picked Zoe up from school and she gave me the ominous: "I have something to tell you when we get home".. which is Zoe speak for "I have something to tell you that I only want you to know".  I told her that it was just her and I in the car, and asked if she could tell me now.  She said: "Roll up your window".

Z: I playing soccer with the boys, well really, I was cheerleading because I'm good at that. Matti came up me and asked if I liked him, I told him "No".

M: I see, then what happened.
Z: he turned over [walked away]
M: So what did you do
Z: I couldn't do anything, he was playing
M: How does that make you feel
Z: I don't know why I said it.  I like him.  He is always nice to me
M: Well what do you want to do about it
Z: I don't know, that is why I'm asking you

Well, we talked about this for a few weeks, coming up with different solutions.

Yesterday Zoe came home and said:
Z: Have you arranged a play date with Matti yet?
M: No...
Z: Matti still won't answer me when I ask him who he likes
M: So what do you want to do about it
Z: I want to tie him up and make him answer me
M: you should draw a picture about that.

[and she did.. I"ll post it next)

On the topic of dad's birthday:
"I know we can make something that will knock his sox off.. Oh yeah, he doesn't wear soxs, like his daughter."
