rock me sexy lullabye

I was putting Zoe to bed, and as usual, I asked her what song she wanted me to sing to her.. "Noah", "Silent Night", "Hush little baby" and she replied: "Rock me sexy Jesus".. I replied, "I don't know that one".. she insisted: "ROCK ME SEXY JESUS!!!"

grandpa did it

Grandpa's name comes up often.. one of the most memorable times was when she was going to bed and she was dancing on her bed, and I offered the painting Nana did as a distraction (of two teddy bears).. when I told her that Nana painted it, she replied, "No, Grandpa did it"
.. Bruce added, "Like mother, like daughter".. I had done something of the same to my mom, giving my dad credit for a table she made.

rock me sexy

Today Zoe and I were on our way to the beach and she started singing.. after 5 rounds of row, row, row your boat".. she launched into a song her dad taught her: Link"Rock me sexy Jesus".. from the film "Hamlet 2". (she know two lines of it... and has repeated it several times today.)

Cinderella

Zoe and I rented Cinderella for this afternoon's down time... (we'd already been to the beach.. and it was freezing and then the coffeeshop)... She loved, loved, loved it.. she laughed so hard, pretty much anytime the mice and cat were on the screen.. which is nearly the whole movie.

Then she found a dress up dress and wanted it on.. I went upstairs and got the cinderealla clothes, and then a crown.

I'm going to need to buy it now ;)

Here is a video of her watching the end.. I don't know why she added the fake cry.. I think it was because she noticed I was recording.

I can do it myself

Zoe now drags our dining room chairs everywhere to get what she wants.. mostly into the kitchen (now to get a cupcake (banana-chocolate chip muffin)).. and even into our bedroom to turn on the light. I need to get her a step stool.

She can also open the fridge (her favorite thing is to get the lemon juice.. you know those little concentrate bottles....)

oh the screaming..

Not that there isn't usually a reason, but Zoe has perfected the temper-tantrum, bringing it to new levels of drama. Yesterday, we went shopping, I bought her some new markers (the wonder-color ones that only draw on special paper) and a new coloring book.. we made two other stops.. On the way back, she played with a new Dora book that her dad bought her.. we left it in the car, we got in the house she said, "I need the Dora book".. well I got the one her dad bought her.. she literally through a fit.. throwing her shoes, jacket, books, anything she could find... screaming no, no, no. I carried her upstairs, but her on my bed while I stopped at the restroom, still screaming.. she threw herself off the bed onto the floor... I couldn't get her to tell me what was wrong.. we finally ended up going downstairs and she finally said, not that one, the other book.. and I rememberded the coloring book I bought. Ugh.. it was my fault.

something similar happened this morning when I ate a chocolate chip that fell off her banana-chocolate chip muffins (we made them yesterday).

the story teller

Zoe is becoming quite a story teller.. she does it when she colors, plays with stickers, plays in our room in front of the mirrors. Yesterday, she had a complete story going. Our luggage was piled up in a hill in front of the mirror. She was climbing to the highest hill to go save baby red fish. She uses all of the story elements she knows by heart, with the repetitive phrases from both Dora and Diego. There was a part that involved doing the twist, and then she said "Good twisiting". There was a part that involved her playing the harmonica... and a "Good fluting". It was very fun to watch (and no, I didn't get it on video.. it is impossible to record her without the camera becoming part of the story).

few of zoe's catch phrases

"I don't think so" (she uses this instead of "no")

"I have an idea" (from Anna)

"Can I? Can I?" (Can I have what you are eating/drinking)

"Can we? Can we?" (go where she wants to go)

(brain freeze.. I'll put more in later.. can't think of them all)

A little game we play:
"Mommy, cry." (then I make a sad face, fake cry). "Mommy, you okay? Don't be sad. Everything will be okay".

Another game:
Zoe make a funny/scare face. You look scared, taken aback. She says: "Did I scare you? I'm sorry. Its okay."
